I apologize for not updating much lately. The truth is, I have been working on a comic series aimed toward adolescents called Shelby and the Blooms. Click here to see the site. The picture below is an initial design of the main character, Shelby, in "Battle Mode." She is a little snail who is the lead singer of a band of bugs. When she retreats into her shell, she ends up in a vast fantasy landscape.

Last Friday, the PÄS Gallery was overtaken by my ninjas and creatures! It was a great turnout, with a Nowhereland-themed photo booth, live music by Ryan and Pi, plenty of drinks and snacks to go around, and a table full of limited edition Nowhereland merchandise! There will be a closing reception on Saturday, March 19th from 6- 11pm. The show will be on display until March 27th.

Christmas Present for my Parents

These are some watercolor cutouts I made for my parents. My dad wants to decorate the bar top in his Hawaiian style backyard by layering old postcards, drink coasters, and other Hawaiian/ Tahitian ephemera underneath a clear resin layer. My favorite is the Tahitian girl.

I don't know why I haven't posted this yet, but here is my public art sculpture. If you look closely, you'll see some Nowhereland characters hidden among the crowd. It was a charity donation that benefitted the All The Arts for All the Kids organization. It was purchased by the city of Fullerton. It now lives in the Fullerton Museum Plaza.

New scavengers and predators have been discovered in Nowhereland. They are megaplankton. This large one just caught a ninja.

I'm beginning a series of Faun portraits using found frames. I want to bring out the personalities of each faun and make them individuals that people can relate to. The name Gianira is a greek name meaning "nymph of the sea". Erosina is also greek and means "erotic lady".

The Red Ninja now has a new home! The painting sold before I got to the opening, and I got to meet the buyer. It's a good show with lots of variety, and the best part is that every piece is only $99.99! I was about to buy the painting done by my former college professor (the pink one to the left of mine), but I got carried away with catching up with all my artist friends.

The Mighty Red Ninja

I have just finished a painting titled, "The Red Ninja Casually Meditates". It measures about 10" square (with frame), and it will be on display and for sale at the Concrete Walls Gallery "Way Too Overhung Show" on Wilshire Blvd. in Los Angeles.
Do you notice that the Red Ninja is sporting an eye patch? Don't ask me how he got it, probably fighting or something. Hey, maybe that's why he's meditating- to overcome the pain of partial vision loss!

OH, the sheer HORROR!!!

So, I walked into my studio today, and you know what I found? A sleeping white ninja! I thought about telling him that he shouldn't be so relaxed outside of Nowhereland because his camouflage doesn't work so well here...but he looked so peaceful, I decided to let him sleep.

I left him there for an hour or so, and when I came back- THIS IS WHAT I FOUND!!! (see below). I feel so horrible for letting this happen! I could have saved that ninja! I should have just followed my gut feeling and told the ninja to return to Nowhereland to get some camoflauged sleep. But NO! I had to be an IDIOT and just let him DIE! Now I've got a guilty conscience, and some dangerous ninja killer lurking in the apartment!

Attack of the Giant Jellyfish!!!

Return of the Mandalas

I was looking at the original version of this painting the other day and thought it was missing something. So I added three new mandalas. In Nowhereland, the mandalas are the by-product of a hollow face, a floating "deity". These mandalas are beautiful and lure their victims close. If the victim comes in contact with one, they get sucked in and become converted into a hollow face.

This is a birthday greeting I made for my Myspace friends. You can see that the ninja here is happy to wish someone a happy birthday. But I guess one could argue that the ninja is happy because he just stabbed something with his sai (in this case it's birthday cake, but it could have just as easily been a head.)

The Spicy Mozza Burger

This was one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. As you can see, I paired it with some salt and pepper chips and a frosty bottle of Cooper's Australian Dark Ale. I think I made it with mozzarella, jalapenos, a boca burger, wheat bun, honey mustard, mayo, lettuce, and a dash of Tapatio.

This is absolutely shocking! A guest at my wedding just made me aware of this photo, taken during my wedding ceremony. You can clearly see two Nowhereland ninjas standing among the crowd. The nerve those ninjas have! We didn't invite them!!!

I spent a mere 17 hours hiking up Mt. Whitney, leaving her in a quivering pile of majestic rocks and altitude. Why did I do it? Because I'm a beast of a man- the kind who makes the Eiffel Tower out of steel and braun. That's the kind of man I am.

These are some of my latest paintings. I have recently introduced wizards into the land. My inspiration is not the wizards in Harry Potter; I was actually inspired by the mystical wizard culture of the 70s, with the crystal and lead statuettes that currently collect dust on shelves.
